Beads, stories, and community

On September 24th, we gathered for Part 2 of our Indigenous Rising Treaty 7 Beading Workshop with the talented Laura Asham. Guided by Laura and supported by Tyra Crosschild, everyone had the chance to learn, create, and connect. 💎

At IRT7, no one is left out — their hangouts are all about making space where youth (ages 16–30) can show up, relax, and be part of something bigger.

Keep an eye on Indigenous Rising Treaty 7’s socials for the next hangout, workshop, and drop-in hours — we can’t wait to see you there! 🌿

Kaylei Crosschild Shared 🗣️: “I am beyond thankful for the shared teachings and knowledge Laura has shared with us during these beading workshops. It was lovely to hear about how her gift of crafting/beading came to life as a young girl and how it was passed down by her mother. I admire Laura’s creativity and passion towards her gift of crafting. Her teaching and communication skills made the sessions feel like a safe space full of laughter and fun, while still learning all we need to know. I look forward to carrying on these teachings and I am very appreciative for these resources we are given to learn more about our culture. “
