: “Strathmore FCSS was honoured to host the “Honouring the Survivors” Community Dinner in recognition of National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. This meaningful event was held in partnership with Trellis/Kickstand and Siksika Victim Support, a support program under Siksika Justice to recognize and honour the Survivors of residential schools and acknowledge the enduring legacy these institutions have left on Indigenous communities. We are deeply grateful to the Kickstand youth volunteers, as well as the Siksika Outreach students, who contributed to the evening by offering their time and heartfelt efforts — including writing personal thank-you cards for the Survivors in attendance. Thank you to all who came out to show their support, stand in solidarity, and participate in a shared commitment to truth, healing, and reconciliation.”

: “As a mother and grandmother, truth and reconciliation means so much to me. I don’t want my family to endure what I went through so I do my part to make a difference. It’s up to us warriors to forge the path forward to the future.”

: “As a Specialized Victim Support Navigator, my work is a profound commitment to guiding survivors through their healing journey with empathy, strength, and respect. It means standing firm as a pillar of support, helping individuals navigate complex systems, access vital resources, and reclaim their sense of safety and dignity. Truth and Reconciliation are at the heart of this mission—acknowledging past harms while fostering understanding and healing within our communities. Inspired by my grandmother Eileen’s resilience, I dedicate myself to empowering survivors, knowing that with hard work and compassion, we can build a future where every voice is valued and every person has the chance to heal and thrive.”

: “Kickstand youth came out to volunteer at the Truth and Reconciliation Dinner, held in honour of our Elders. This meaningful event gave the youth an opportunity to give back to the community, connect with Elders, and show their respect and appreciation. Throughout the evening, they listened to powerful stories shared by the Elders—stories that deepened their understanding of the importance of truth, reconciliation, and the history that brought us to this moment. It was a night of learning, reflection, and building bridges between generations. It was an honour to be part of this special event, in partnership with FCSS and Siksika Victim Services. Coming together to honour our Elders and those who attended Residential Schools was a powerful and emotional experience. Events like this help build the bridge to reconciliation—through connection, storytelling, and respect. Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the evening so meaningful.”
