The Calgary Saddledome was filled with celebration, culture, and community during the Calgary Flames Indigenous Night, creating a powerful evening that highlighted Indigenous representation on a major stage.
One of the evening’s highlights included Dilayna Blackhorse, who performed the Canadian National Anthem in Blackfoot, bringing a meaningful and powerful opening to the night. Throughout the game, attendees were also treated to a performance by Armond Duckchief during the intermission, adding to the strong presence of local Indigenous talent.
Powwow dancers shared their skills and culture in various areas of the arena, creating an immersive experience for fans in attendance. Adding to the night’s significance, Eldon Weasel Child joined Beesley as an in-arena announcer, further showcasing Indigenous voices within the event.
The evening stood as a celebration of culture, music, and community, highlighting the strength and pride of Siksika Nation and Indigenous peoples on a large platform.
