Meet Miss Siksika Shaedon Wolf Child 

Siksika Nation welcomes its new royalty for the 2026-2027 years. Shaedon Wolf Child (Maasaamiipootakii) will be representing the Siksika Nation in her official capacities as Miss Siksika. She was voted as Miss Siksika on June 18, 2026, during the annual Siksika Nation Princess Pageant. 

“I’m excited to be here and I’m honored to serve as Miss Siksika 2026 and 2027,” said Wolf Child. 

For the next year, Wolf Child will represent Siksika with pride, respect, honesty, and kindness as she attends events and celebrations.  

Regarding her responsibilities, she said, “it’s about being present in our community and also being there for our elders; learning, sitting down with our elders, supporting the youth, and then carrying the culture wherever I go.” 

Wolf Child actively participates in the Siksika Nation culture, going to the Sundance since she was 13. Her parents are She did not speak Blackfoot growing up but hearing it at powwows and events helped her get an ear for it; when she knew she would be competing for the Miss Siksika title, she prioritized learning it. “I’m still picking it up today. I think I started when I was 21 years old,” she said. 

Alongside her are other pageant representatives Miss Teen Siksika Mirabel Yellow Old Woman, Miss Kokona Tayanna Solway, Miss Tiny Tot Kaiza Weasel Child. 

“I take them as my little sisters, my little royalty sisters!” said Wolf Child. 

Together, they support one another while carrying the responsibility of representing Siksika Nation. For Wolf Child, that means being a voice for others, helping where she can and leading through everyday acts of kindness. She hopes her actions reflect positively on the community and inspire others to do the same.  

“I’m so happy to have these three lovely girls standing beside me with this crown because it’s really fun with them,” said Wolf Chilld. 

Aside from being Miss Siksika for the next year, Wolf Child also serves as the Youth Chief of the Siksika Nation Youth Chief & Council, hoping to inspire more youth participation in Siksika Nation programs. Currently 

Siksika youth trips were a fond part of Wolf Child’s childhood, and she hopes to see more of those in the future. “I hope to inspire and honour our past by empowering our youth to lead a good future.” 

Currently, they work with Siksika youth and run an Instagram where they post culturally educational things like Blackfoot word of the day.  

Wolf Child is currently attending Mount Royal University for her Bachelor of Education, for which she is also double minoring in Indigenous studies and sociology.  

“I’m really excited to become an educator and bring back this knowledge to Siksika,” said Wolf Child.  

She envisions classrooms that better reflect the needs, experiences, and aspirations of students, and looks forward to making a meaningful contribution to that vision in Siksika. 

Despite that, she does have her own dreams she’s working towards. “After working with Siksika Nation for a while, I plan to move overseas to teach English, maybe in Korea or Japan.”  

She eventually plans to move overseas to become an ESL teacher. 

“It’s good because you learn something new and have something inspiring to bring home.” 

For all the support she has received, Wolf Child thanks everyone for believing in and supporting her. She will represent Siksika with pride, respect and kindness, while reminding youth to chase their dreams.  

“There will be challenges along the way, but every experience helps you grow. Be proud of who you are in Siksika and where you come from. And remember, your voice matters!”
