Kayleb Scalplock travels to Japan

Kayleb Scalplock is 17 years old and is going into Grade 12 this upcoming school year. He is from right here in Siksika and comes from a very respected and cultural family, his grandparents are Irvine and Esther Scalplock. Kayleb currently lives in Lethbridge, where he attends Catholic Central High.

Recently, Kayleb went with his school on a trip to Japan, where he was there for 10 days. There, he and about 15 other students got a chance to visit various shrines, temples, shopping districts, and towns in the country side of Japan. This trip was something that had to be earned and was for students who had good grades, were active in school and took the time to learn about the places that the school planned to visit. Grade 12 students were given priority, with grade 11 and 10 students possibly not going. With all that hard work, it paid off, and he was able to attend.

Kayleb Scalplock is a very good role model for youth in Siksika; he advocates for a lot of healthy living as he likes to exercise, go to Powwow’s, and get good grades in school. He is also a very well-known champion chicken dancer, as he comes from a family of champion dancers. He is always in the community, showing that it is possible to achieve your goals and inspiring others to do the same.
