Before the drums sounded for the official start of the Siksika Nation Powwow, the World Prairie Chicken Dance Championship lit up the Piiksapi Memorial Arbor with energy, precision, and pride. This special event took place one day before the powwow and was an incredible showcase of culture, athleticism, and tradition — all in the homeland of the Chicken Dance: Siksika Nation.
Dancers from across Indian land came to compete, bringing their unique styles, vibrant regalia, and powerful footwork to the arbor. The atmosphere was electric as participants paid homage to the rich Blackfoot traditions that birthed this iconic dance style.
