Unmute the Nation

On August 19th, our community gathered at Admin Park for an open mic like no other—where every voice mattered, every story was heard. 🌞 Despite the heat, the spirit was strong with info booths, a vendor like Three Little Owls, and heartfelt moments reminding us of life’s rawness and its beauty. ✨

🗣️ Dustin Dick Shared: “We just wrapped up the Unmute The Nation event today – and it turned out to be so much more than I expected. The community came together, shared laughs, had powerful conversations, and enjoyed a great BBQ cooked up by our Siksika Fire & Rescue team. Our culture was front and center as Nation members put on their regalia and showcased grass, jingle, and fancy dancing. The heat didn’t stop them from giving their all. Big thanks as well to the Blackfoot Confederacy Drummers – even with just two hand drummers, their songs carried far, reaching our Elders with so much respect. To our Elders – your words of encouragement and stories of triumph over addiction are blessings. To the vendors and info booths who braved the heat — you made this feel like true community involvement. And to the public – thank you for showing up and showing out. Public speaking is never easy, but every voice was heard today. We may not always agree, but we respect each other enough to listen, and that’s how healing begins. Most importantly, these events only happen when we come together.”
