The Golden Hills School Division Princess & Warrior Pageant 2026

On October 7, 2026, Indigenous students from the Golden Hills School Division gathered at Strathmore High School for the annual Princess & Warrior Pageant, an event that celebrates youth leadership, confidence, cultural pride, community spirit and engagement.

Hosted for students from the Carseland School, Westmount School, Crowther Memorial Jr. High School, and Strathmore High School, the pageant provided participants with an opportunity to demonstrate their talents, decision-making abilities, public speaking skills, and knowledge while embracing their cultural identities.

The event brought together students, families, school staff, and community members in support of the contestants. Throughout the event, the participants took part in a variety of activities designed to highlight their leadership potential and personal strengths. Contestants were asked to speak before an audience, answering questions that tested their cognitive and critical-thinking skills, and share aspects of their culture through individual performances.

One of the highlights of the pageant was the talent presentation portion. Participants proudly showcased their abilities through traditional and contemporary performances. Several contestants performed powwow dances, demonstrating their confidence, dedication, and respect for cultural teachings. Others shared their voices through powwow singing, and cultural sharing of recreational activities, creating powerful moments that reflected the importance of cultural expression and connection.

The Princess & Warrior Pageant continues to be more than a competition. It serves as a platform for young people to build confidence, develop leadership skills, and celebrate who they are. Through public speaking, cultural sharing, and community engagement, participants gain valuable experiences that help prepare them to become future leaders in their schools and communities.

The success of this year’s pageant was made possible through the support of students, families, educators, and community members who came together to celebrate the achievements of Indigenous youth and the cultural traditions that continue to inspire future generations.
