Indigenous Rising Treaty 7 hosted a beautiful Beading Workshop on August 28th at the Community Wide Resource Centre in Calgary!

Led by the incredible Laura Asham, the evening was filled with creativity, connection, and culture alongside amazing participants like Disa Crowchief, Kaylei Crosschild, and Jordynn Wadworth-Smith. 🧵🌿

A huge thank you to Tyra and Jacie for bringing this gathering together—it wouldn’t have been possible without you. 💖

Laura Asham Shared 🗣️: “I’ve been beading since I was seven years old. I started doing tack down what I’m showing the ladies, I was taught by my mom the late Donna Calf, and I’ve been beading ever since, and I’ve been showing a lot of youth throughout the years and I really enjoyed showing my skill and what I’ve been taught and my gift, because I think that’s a gift. Thank you.”

Tyra Crosschild Shared 🗣️: “what I liked about today is that this is our first hangout of the of the summer. IRT7 is back and running, so I’m really excited to have a beading hang out as our first one. I’m excited for regular programming to start. We are hoping to have one professional development day and one hangout a month so if anyone’s interested, you can contact me.”
