New road sign named in honour of the late Reverend Margaret Waterchief

Oki Siksika,

On April 30, members of the Siksika Nation and the Waterchief family gathered as Land Management unveiled a new road sign named in honour of the late Reverend Margaret Waterchief.

Dale Spring Chief (Lands) spoke on the Road Naming Project, noting that, “Along with 114 road names, we have also renamed all 25 communities within Siksika.”

Elder Clarence Agar Wolfleg MC’d the ceremony, while Raymonda Waterchief gave remarks on behalf of her family. Elder Larry Waterchief marked the occasion with a prayer in Blackfoot.

Various members of Public Safety, as well as Councilor Darrell Daniels, were in attendance. The new road name sign will be located in the White Mane Rider (formerly Stobart).
