Eight-year-old Abigail Doore-Saunders, a proud member of the Blackfoot Confederacy and Siksika Nation, was recently crowned Little Miss Galaxy Canada 2025. Born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, Abigail comes from a family deeply rooted in culture and tradition. She is the daughter of Joel Saunders and Roxanne Doore and the granddaughter of Ron and Joyce Doore (formerly of the Blood Reserve) and Dawn (Ertel) and David Saunders. Her great-grandparents, Leslie and Rosa Doore (Running Rabbit), have played an important role in shaping her connection to her heritage.
Abigail’s passion for her culture is evident through her love of powwow dancing. She is a Jingle Dress dancer, a meaningful tradition passed down to her by her great-grandmother, who crafted the dress she now wears. This dress was originally made for Abigail’s mother, making it a cherished family heirloom.
In addition to her cultural pursuits, Abigail is an active athlete and performer. She plays soccer, practices gymnastics, participates in ballet, tap, and jazz dance, and enjoys swimming on weekends. She is also a member of The Calgary Stampede Young Canadians, showcasing her talent and dedication to the performing arts.
Since earning her title in Toronto this past October, Abigail has embraced her role as Little Miss Galaxy Canada with enthusiasm. She has participated in numerous volunteer events, fundraisers, and fashion shows, as well as confidence training days. Through these activities, Abigail has grown not only in skill but also in confidence, all while forming meaningful connections with others.
Abigail’s journey has been deeply inspired by her family and community. It was her aunt, Quinn Teechma, who first introduced her to the world of pageantry and the empowering presence of Indigenous role models like Ashley Callingbull, Miss Universe Canada. Abigail continues to draw strength from her family’s unwavering support, as they cheer her on every step of the way.
Reflecting on her experience, Abigail shared, “Be yourself and don’t be afraid to try new things. Even when something feels scary, remember that you’re stronger than you think. There’s always someone who believes in you—your family, your friends, your community. Never stop dreaming!”
Abigail’s journey as Little Miss Galaxy Canada 2025 has been filled with growth, excitement, and pride. As she looks ahead, she continues to represent her community with grace and inspire others to pursue their dreams with confidence. This August, Abigail is excited to take the stage once again as she represents Canada at the Galaxy International competition in Florida. She looks forward to showcasing her hard work, connecting with contestants from around the world, and continuing to grow as a confident young role model.
