Siksika Buffalos vs the First Responders – Charity game!

By Andrew Breaker

The Siksika Buffalos Sr AA hockey team is coached and played by Brooker Pretty Young Man and is the son of Jason and Louise Doore and Harlon McMaster. At the moment, he serves as an Educational assistant at Siksika Nation High School. The Siksika Nation’s Sargant peace officer, Dustin Daniels, is the son of Dion Daniels and Cheryl Sitting Eagle. Dustin Daniels brought up the event; while the Lethbridge police department played a charity game with its Ranchland squad, Dustin informed him about it. In addition to honoring the first responders, Brooker and Dustin wanted to give back to the nation and its youths. They convened with EMS and Fire to organize the event. They decided to give the grade 9 grads all the proceeds of the game for their grade 9 moving forward ceremony.

“You can expect more events like this in the future, this is the only the first event and next year we are planning to have a bigger event. We plan on having it as an annual event with the First Responders and the Buffalos.” Dustin Daniels on how the event went and if we could expect more events like this.

Both sides thoroughly enjoyed the fantastic hockey, and the event was a wonderful success. The crowds in the stands were so dense that most people hadn’t seen them in a while. Through the event, the grade 9 grads earned more than $1,000. The Siksika Buffalos and First Responders intend to support the Siksika youth by making this an annual event.

“I would like to give out a big shout out to the planning committee, Brooker Pretty Young Man, Tom Little Child, Tim Calf Robe, and Mory Ayoungman with the help to make this event with less than a month to plan.” Dustin Daniels thanking his peers for making this event possible. Awesome job on the great event, we are excited to attend next time!
