Oki! This past weekend and throughout the week of August, the Alberta Indigenous Games (AIG) in Edmonton brought together athletes from across Treaty 7 and beyond — and Siksika Nation proudly made its mark with outstanding performances in both fastball and basketball.
🥎 U11 Female Fastball Team Strikes Gold
The U11 Female Fastball Siksika Team showcased incredible skill, determination, and teamwork throughout the tournament. Their hard work paid off as they took home GOLD in their division, earning a well-deserved championship title.
It was a proud moment for the players, coaches, families, and the entire Nation as the team carried Siksika’s spirit onto the diamond and brought home the win. 🥇🔥
🏀 Basketball Teams Representing Siksika & Blackfoot
The basketball court was just as electric with Siksika/Blackfoot teams competing at a high level in multiple divisions:
- 🏆 U11 Gold Medal Game – Our young athletes battled with pride, skill, and heart.
- 💪 North Blackfoot Warriors U15 Team – Coached by Lanny McHugh and Adri Many Heads, this team represented with determination and strong play.
- 🥇 Selena Maguire & Cameron McMaster – Both athletes competed in the U21 division, and not only did they shine there, but they also contributed to another gold medal victory with the U19 North Blackfoot Warriors Female Team.
From the youngest players to the seasoned competitors, Siksika athletes delivered results, represented the Nation with pride, and inspired the community with their passion for sport.
